Testimonials

I did a combination of the stopping cigarettes program and the losing weight program.

Since I was dealing with a sugar addiction, the days leading up to having "the-last-cigarette" (or sugar in my case) were the hardest for me. I could not imagine myself "stopping sugar" cold turkey and I also didn't feel like I had an alternate plan in mind at that point.

I decided to continue to follow both books, but instead of attempting to quit sugar, I would just continue to observe my sugar/dessert habits and begin to make a list of things with sugar that would be acceptable in the future and things that would not. That felt like a good decision, so I carried on thinking it would be several days or weeks before I began wean myself off of sugar.

On the day leading up to the last day of cigarettes (sugar) and on the day of the last day of cigarettes I noticed that I had very little sugar or desserts and hadn't really thought much about them.

The day after the last cigarette day, the thought occurred to me that I already knew the top 10 or 15 sweet things that would be on my NO list and that I could start with that and observe. Much to my surprise, several days went by and I hardly thought about needing to have sugar or a dessert. At this point it occurred to me that perhaps some "magic" had taken place, but at the same time I doubted it since I have quit sugar for more days than that in the past. Several more days passed and much to my surprise, I still did not have any strong cravings for sugar. At this point I realized that something in my thinking had shifted and that it had actually been easy up to that point.

Here it is day 29, and I still am not craving sugar and am quite convinced that I am in a new, easeful place regarding my life-long habit of sugar controlling me.

Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful program! Not only was it enjoyable, it was easy to follow.

I am free of all desires for nicotine!

I am so pleased with this program, I am going to follow every one available!

Thanks again. I've gotten back my life of freedom!

After completing the 29 days program, I now feel like I can do this on my own - and I am.

I feel so much lighter and better about myself now and happier. Of course I haven't lost all the weight that I would like - but a lot of the strategies you have told us to do in the program (which I did most of them), I’m still using and have confidence towards the goal of getting down to my desired size. It was great to have someone looking over my shoulder (the daily program guide) but not looking too close at the same time.

When I went to Weight Watchers - I found it humiliating to be weighed in front of everyone - and condescended to and felt a lot of pressure. I didn't go back after a few weeks. As you know - we people who tend to eat too much are kind of private - at least about our eating. This 29 day program created just the right amount of pressure for me - without feeling invasive. So I think that you are onto something very good here.

Another thing that I think is good about the program has to do with the weight loss being slow and steady. When I was mentioning to a friend of mine whose mother is a dietician that the program I was involved with was only suggesting a weight loss of about a pound a week she was very impressed. She said that if you lose the weight too quickly - your skin begins to sag. I thought that was a good thing to consider. So - I know that patience is needed - and I think that for my health - this will be a very good formula.

Thanks Again!

I have been on one diet or another since I was 10 years old. Diets are Hell!
29days was a gift from God.  This was not challenging -  especially when I found it working for me with a minimum of effort.

Sure I had to read his stuff. Sure I had to do the daily assignments - or whatever you want to call them but hey - this worked for me when - after 45 years of trying to lose this weight ... I can get into my favorite red dress that I couldn't even walk by - let alone put on before.

Thank you 29 days. Thank You!  You guys have something very special here!

Thanks again for this course - it's made a substantial impact and continues to every day. It's been two months since the start of the course and to date, I’ve lost 15 lbs+ and have a noticeable change in what I eat and how I view food.

I was very skeptical about this process, and in spite of myself … I’ve never had such an immediate and accepting reaction - I’m not clear on the trigger but it works!

I especially enjoyed reward day, which I was certain to employ!

"This was the most fascinating book/program I have read in a

very long time.  I thought I was already a good listener, but was I ever wrong! I learned a great deal about myself and the areas in which I needed to improve my listening and communication skills.

Now I find that I am more tuned into conversations and there is a level of satisfaction I have achieved in feeling that I am a better partner, friend, mother and co-worker."

~Jacqueline Bagatto

The most powerful thing about this program is that it very gently held me accountable to my dreams and my financial goals each and every day. I was amazed at what I accomplished in just twenty-nine days.

By taking small consistent daily steps I was surprised at the change in my thinking and habits toward my financial picture.

For the first time in my life I am excited about my financial future. I know I'll achieve my financial dreams.

Every once in a while someone like Richard Fast comes along and cares enough about his own and our lives to be of help!  Dont' miss this opportunity to enrich your life - its quality and content!  I will review these tidbits on good listening and communication time and again.

A study showed that people on their death beds said that what mattered most to them at the end of their lives was, in fact, their relationships.

~ Taylor Jane Green BA, RIHR, LC, CH

Being a good listener is surely one of the most important attributes of marriage, parenting, friendships, and business relationships. A poor listener misunderstands and misses out on the vital give-and-take partnerships that give life meaning and help us to feel connected to others. Yet few people are born knowing how to listen; it is a skill like any other and we can learn to do it well. For listening is not simply the absence of speaking, but the active focus of the open heart and mind of one who values healthy relationships.

In 29 Days to Being an Effective Listener, Richard Fast takes us through an easy-to-follow plan to improve our listening skills. Interspersed with real-life examples and action steps, this book will help readers improve their relationships by excelling at a skill used every day in every situation. Nothing can damage a relationship right from the start as much as poor listening, yet bad habits are not impossible to change. Listen to Richard Fast and follow his program. Then listen to others, and soon they will be listening to you as well."

Program Reviews

4.0 out of 5 stars Very thoroughJune 16, 2011
This review is from: 29 DAYS ... to your perfect weight (Paperback)
This is a comprehensive book that covers all the mental blocks to weight loss and goal achievement such as the downsides to achieving your weight loss goal, etc. The authors present the material in a clear, concise way that is easily readable and manageable. You feel as if the authors really do care about the reader and have the reader's best interests at heart. The language is very positive and the program is extremely doable, not requiring any extreme diet or exercise programs.

The first section of the book is the book itself, which explains the system and outlines the program steps. The second section is more of a journal with a couple of pages for each day to record one's progress and thoughts, etc. The two together make for a very thorough combination.

I highly recommend this to anyone searching for a sane weight loss and lifestyle change plan.

If you don't want to ever lose unwanted weight, don't ever consider actually buying this book.

If you had to think for a second at the meaning of the above sentence - you ARE ready to buy this book!

It offers 100% positive reinforcement for whatever weight loss program you will use to lose weight. If you prefer to stay with your own program, you can add this program as a supplement to your own weight loss plan. The book also includes a 29 day companion plan which offers online tips, articles, journaling, strategies, direction and coaching to help the reader to get to his or her desired weight - whatever that may be.

This is not a book which offer you diets, low-calorie or high fiber food programs to follow, expecting you to learn to live with eating healthy foods and depriving yourself at every turn. Instead, you will get 2 online coach/buddy plan reminders a day for 29 days. It includes all of the tips and motivation will be able to stand to help you achieve your desired weight.

I started this plan excited and ready for change. I read the book, and followed the outline play strategies for losing weight. This coaching and book set the stage to change your habits and perception of why you eat what you do.

The best part is that after one week, my clothes fit differently. The book teachers the committed reader to: set goals, be more aware of food and your relationship to food, your desires and inner self, the principles of success and much more. The book and online messages serve as a double program guide with the same messages - you are the master of your weight with these tips. At the end of the 29 days if the reader is completely honest with herself or himself, I would bet that the reader will lose pounds. If the reader is ready to finally make a decision to start this or any other program to lose weight, it is possible to do it if you think about food in a different way.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in developing healthier habits and relationships with food. The plans presented in this book are the tools to be used for change within the reader's own head. The authors have a winning plan - run don't walk to the store to buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool for Setting GoalsJanuary 26, 2011
This review is from: 29 DAYS ... to your perfect weight (Paperback)
29 Days and you can change your life? Author Richard Fast believes so and has created a series of books and programs illustrating:

* "29 Days ... to your perfect weight"
* "29 Days ... to your life without cigarettes"
* "29 Days ... to becoming a great communicator"
* "29 Days ... to save money and achieve financial independence"

Each book in the series coincides with a 29-day online program that gently coaches participants as they change fundamental ways of thinking and acting. The "29 Days" books and programs focus on tools like goal writing, visualization, written affirmations and taking small steps to transform thinking in a way that's not overbearing. While the program takes participants through a 29-day process with an immediate goal in mind, the overall goal is ultimately about changing a habit for a lifetime.
About the Author
Richard Fast knows what it's like to struggle with a habit that just won't seem to go away. Twenty-three years ago, Fast was a 60-cigarette-a-day smoker until he set out to change his thinking, which is the aim of the "29 Day" program. A prolific developer of board games, puzzles and toys, Fast is most notably the maker of the early 90s board game MindTrap (Mattel) - which challenges players to correctly answer brain-teaser questions.
My Thoughts: I received copies of "29 Days ... to your perfect weight" and "29 Days ... to save money and achieve financial independence". I am roughly through day 18 of the "29 Days ... to save money and achieve financial independence" and find the advice contained in Fast's book is practical, easy to follow and welcomed in today's tough economy. Fast's reminds us that although cutting back and saving are important, changing the way you think about your money is the best means of saving and achieving financial independence.

The recurring principles of each series are:
Create awareness Prepare to act Act Continue to act

"29 Days..." series is easy to incorporate into my daily reading sort of like a daily devotional. I also love the accompanying website. Fast has created a wonderful complimentary website that accompanies each of the books in his series.

5.0 out of 5 stars 29 Days To Your Perfect Weight Targets The Mind As Well As The BodyJanuary 16, 2011
This review is from: 29 DAYS ... to your perfect weight (Paperback)

Losing weight is always at the top of most New Years Resolutions or "To Do" lists whenver a new year or milestone in life arises, but it's not always the easiest thing to do. 29 DAYS TO YOUR PERFECT WEIGHT analyzes why. The book helps us to understand that alot of what happens with our body is about our attitude as well as our perception of what "perfect" is.

Sooner or later we have to realize that we can't be the body type that we always see on tv or in magazines. What is the right size to you might be totally different for someone else, so we have to change our mentality about weight and the way we look.

There is also the reasons why we might approach food a certain way. As with other books in the series, the authors urge us to reflect on our lives and be honest about the decisions we make. This coupled with hard work and dedication makes the journey a whole lot easier.

This is definitely a book that I could appreciate as someone who thinks constantly about weight and how I approach a healthy body image. I think other readers will find it to be a valuable resource as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some great adviseJanuary 19, 2011

This review is from: 29 DAYS ... to your life without cigarettes! (Paperback)
This book tackles the mindset that either makes for a good or bad habit. And how if you make it a game that you love as much as you love working out, eating right etc, that you can become tobacco free and achieve most healthy goals in life. The author notes that 'Acquiring habits that are born of a change of attitude and thought, as opposed to willpower, is our goal'.

The author also speaks of principles of success in meeting goals, like patience or what I call calming down, perseverance, and simple self confidence which is one step at a time. Also like that the author says to avoid making the New Years resolution, but instead start a change when you are in a calmer mood. I did this in December when I decided one day I wanted to stop drinking soda daily, and simply didn't run to the store to buy a new 12 pack. Two weeks went by and I realized I hadn't bought or had a soda. I also think (having been married to a great guy who smoked when we married) learning what to do with you hands after having the habit of having a cigarette or cigar for so many years, is key. That instead of reaching for a smoke, you reach for a glass of water and go for a walk. Have friends who instead of smoking on break time at work they walk around outside, take the stairs for some extra work out. With smokers it helps to drink more water, and walk more as this helps detoxify the body.

The author also notes that the keys to goal achievement are things like focus and purpose. You have to have a goal. And you have to be sincere about what you want. That it has to be for you and not to please others. That slow, consistent actions is what works best. Taking time each day to see how far you have come, not how far you have to go, will keep you on the path to success. The author reminds us that small changes and gentle repetition of thought can transform our lives. Stop and think about something you wanted to do that if you look real hard, wasn't easy sometimes. Did you give up? Or did you stay the course and work thru the pain, the falling down and getting back up? Maybe if we kept this thought we would succeed more in those areas we have avoided?

Beginning on page 109 we are introduced to the start of a 4 week or 29 day plan. Try it.

Time For Financial Success!February 9, 2011

This review is from: 29 DAYS ... to save money and achieve financial independence! (Paperback)
"The ultimate purpose of the 29 DAYS programs (this is one) is permanent change. Permanent change can only be achieved by changing your deepest thoughts." But whereas we are all very good at saying we want permanent change, our steps usually don't proceed from simple, small steps, and that is one reason we fail. Richard Fast offers a program for those who really want to be financially independent and are tired of living on a financial edge, especially in these very difficult financial times!

Fast helps the reader to analyze his or her habits, attitudes toward change, and perceptions about success. Yes, patience and perseverance are key elements that will help achieve this goal, but these won't work unless one copes with the fears one has about both one's failures and successes. Instead of self-criticism and commands, the author helps the reader ask the types of questions that guarantee one can begin to implement changes to achieve one's successful financial goal - that is a gem so many can absorb through the habitual hardwired thoughts that doom goals to failure before they even begin.

Along with this book comes access to an on-line coach to support you in your progress through the 29 days. Week one is all about committment to the goal and changing limiting habits and beliefs, week to getting ready for practical action, week three moves one into the zone of wanting that action and coming up with ideas and ways that work, and four implementing actions that day by day will become like new habits leading to those desired permanent results.

The remainder of the book takes one through a day-by-day process that this reviewer thinks is chock full of stories, advice, and practical financial advice, things like leasing versus buying, reconciling my needs and wants with my real net income, and so much more. Yes, "Awareness is Vital to Fundamental Change."

So if you're tired of living with never knowing where the next dollar is coming from, or spending habits that test your actual income to the limit, and other aspects that drive individuals and couples into so much unnecessary disharmony, this is the book you need to purchase. This reviewer doesn't normally like books like this; but I highly recommend this text for readers of all ages.

And if you like this text, there are other 29 Days books for other life scenarios offering a new, productive way to live. Start here - it will be worth every penny spent! Very nice job, Richard Fast!!!
