The Richest Man in Babylon

About This Book

This book is a series of parables about money that were written as individual essays. In a very simple, and elegant way, Clason shows the step-by-step secret of accumulating wealth. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme but a systematic, fail-proof plan of acquiring wealth.

The stories in the book are entertaining; they are reminiscent of some of the parables in the Bible, such as the Prodigal Son or the story of the Workers in the Vineyard.

This work is one of my all-time favorites on money and finances. Its teachings are so simple and presented in such a logical manner it makes you wonder at your previous thoughts and conclusions about money. In most cases I suspect we just haven’t given the subject of personal finances a lot of serious thought - if you don’t count worry.

This book is simple, short, and entertaining. It will ease your mind about money, in the sense that it will begin to show you that you CAN control your financial destiny with just a little effort and focused thought.

It can resort hope and faith where it may have previously been wanting.

I couldn’t recommend this book highly enough.

About the Author

George S. Clason (1874 – 1957 ) was born in Louisiana, Missouri. During his eighty two years he was a soldier, businessman and writer. He served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War.

Clason started two companies, the Clason Map Company of Denver Colorado and the Clason Publishing Company.

George Clason is best known for writing a series of informational pamphlets about being thrifty and how to achieve financial success. He started writing the pamphlets in 1926, using parables that were set in ancient Babylon.

“Success means accomplishments as the result of our own efforts and abilities. Proper preparation is the key to our success. Our acts can be no wiser than our thoughts. Our thinking can be no wiser than our understanding.”

Banks and insurance companies began to distribute the parables and the most famous ones were compiled into the book The Richest Man in Babylon. These “Babylonian parables” have become a modern inspirational classic.
