Robert Collier has written a masterpiece. This is one of my all-time favorite books.

Collier quotes heavily from the Bible to support many of his teachings. Throughout the book he continually hammers home the point that we are the masters of our lives, and mastery is based solely on the principle of thought. Without thought, we are no different than any other inanimate object. We are not our bodies. Our hand is incapable of thought. Our legs are incapable of thought. All that we are stems from our minds and the thoughts we create; he stresses the unlimited power of the subconscious mind is within us all. It is a sleeping giant that exists but is unknown to most of us. It is our our talisman. 

He frequently quotes Jesus in support of this premise; “The Kingdom of God is Within You.”

If we can learn to tap into our subconscious mind, we will have the same powers as the greatest teachers throughout history. Jesus continually taught that we must learn to use the abundance that God has given us and Collier teaches that this is our all-powerful subconscious mind.

Collier continually asserts that we must examine our minds and decide exactly what our goal is, and then direct all of our energy toward that end. It is essential to adopt a positive mental attitude, and then draw on the power within each of us. We all have the ability to tap into the infinite source of all power, wealth and wisdom and the gateway to this endless fountain of wealth and knowledge is through the door of our subconscious mind. 

Wealth, success and happiness are there for the taking, all we need do is direct our minds to what every person already possesses. 

About the Author

Robert Collier (1885-1950) was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Mary Ferguson and John Collier. His mother died when he and his older brother were quite young, and his father traveled widely for Collier’s Magazine, which was founded and published by his uncle, Peter F. Collier. Robert was expected to become a priest, but before taking his vows he decided against the life of a clergyman and set off on his own.

Because of an earlier, seemingly undiagnosable illness which he finally cured through Christian Science, he started investigating how the Mind could so quickly and surely cure an illness which doctors had been working on for months. Clearly there must be powers in the Mind he’d never suspected – and if it had dominion over his physical self, why could it not cure any financial lack? Why could it not bring him anything of good he might wish?

Collier began to study hundreds of books and courses on everything relating to metaphysics and success in life. After much research in the field, he began to find parts that were really workable in everyday life; a long time before he realized tangible results from his efforts – but when results began, they came quickly.

After Collier got the idea for a set of books on practical psychology, he began to put this ideas into action, working night and day writing the books. Within six months of publication of these books he received more than one million dollars-worth of orders for them. The books were later combined into a single volume entitled The Secret of the Ages. He sold over 300,000 sets of them – and received thousands of letters telling of wonderful results obtained from the books. The Secret of The Ages has been translated into German, Italian, French, and Spanish, and sold all over the world.
