Smoking

Introduction

29 DAYS ... to your life without cigarettes! is about freedom ... your freedom.

Have no fear of this course, you won’t be asked to give anything up whatsoever. If you stay with me for the length of this course, you will be an ex-smoker in twenty-nine days. I will go even further to say that this process will be simple and permanent. There is one requirement on your part: You must want to be free of this ghastly habit. If you really want freedom from smoking, it will be yours within twenty-nine days, and you’ll never look back.

As a former smoker I would rank myself among the world’s most addicted creatures. I started smoking when I was very young, and before I quit-for-good, I could not imagine, in my wildest dreams, that I could really enjoy life’s special moments without a cigarette. I know these thoughts run through the mind of every smoker. That’s why we believe it will be so hard to quit!

One of the biggest obstacles to quitting smoking is fear: fear of change; fear that your life will be empty without cigarettes; fear that you will experience withdrawal, stress and anxiety for the rest of your non-smoking life; fear that you will be so grouchy that no one will want to associate with you; fear that you will never again enjoy life’s pleasures in the same way.

Let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. As a non-smoker I enjoy a glass of wine, a cold beer, talking on the telephone, socializing at a bar, working on my computer and relaxing on the couch after a meal, infinitely more now than I did when I had to have my “mandatory” cigarette. In fact, the thought of needing a cigarette with any of those pleasures is unfathomable to me today and has been ever since I quit smoking. Let me assure you that you will view cigarettes and their role in your life very differently by the time you’re only halfway through this course. I might also emphatically add, that it will be you, not me, and not this course, that will have created your new way of thinking.

I am not going to ask you to butt out. I am not even going to suggest that you cut back on the number of cigarettes that you presently smoke. Smoke all you want and then some, after all, since smoking is such a “pleasurable” pastime, let’s really enjoy shall we?

I hope you have had the opportunity to read 29 DAYS ... to a habit you want!, because it explains many of the concepts behind the philosophy and approach to changing our habitual way of thinking. We are the result of our thoughts and by changing our thoughts we can make, or break any habit in a simple and permanent way. Change your thoughts and you change your world.

29 DAYS also explains why our inner-self will try to resist change. In a nutshell, you will not need willpower, you will not be asked to experience pain and you will not be given a drop dead date to quit smoking. Any form of change in your lifestyle will be determined by you and your new way of thinking.

This course is designed to completely alter the way you view cigarettes and the “mystical” and “invisible” power they presently hold over you. I was once where you are right now. I know of what I speak. Cigarettes have absolutely zero appeal to me now, and it won’t be long before they have zero appeal to you too.

Every area of my life is infinitely more enjoyable without cigarettes. You will soon discover this in your life as well, but it can happen only one way ... you have to change the way you think.

Your 29 DAYS course as been divided into four weeks, with each week building on the previous week. Each week you will be creating new neuron tracks or pathways into your subconscious mind, and embedding new ways of thinking and acting. In a surprisingly short period of time your view of cigarettes will be radically different from what it is now. The invisible hold that cigarettes presently have over you will be gone and you will be rid of them forever.

In the first week we want to establish two things: commitment and awareness. You have to be committed to quitting smoking, or no power in the universe can cause a change.

Note: If you don’t really, really want to be free of cigarettes right now, then I ask you to put this course aside until you feel absolutely certain you want to be free. If, however, you are committed to breaking free of your addiction to cigarettes right now, then welcome. You are about to experience one of life’s most exciting achievements—real freedom from cigarettes!

Here’s an overview of the next four weeks...

Week One – Commitment and Awareness Week

Through simple observation and awareness, you will begin to notice why and when you smoke. You will begin to notice and understand your present thoughts, desires, fears and the perceived pleasures you associate with smoking. Without awareness we cannot hope to change our thoughts. Awareness is the first law of learning, transformation and growth. This week will also help you to build a strong foundation of commitment that will support you in the coming weeks.

Week Two – Preparation Week

Now that you have established awareness of your smoking patterns, and you know your heart and mind are totally committed to achieving your goal, week two is designed to prepare you for action. You will begin to ask yourself simple but vital questions. These questions and observations will open your eyes wide to the mistaken assumptions and fears that have kept you hostage to smoking. By day ten or eleven, the daily reminders, and your visualization and simple affirmations will already be forming powerful new thought patterns. Your self-confidence and personal power will begin to show signs of life!

Week Three - Taking Action

By now you’ll be wanting to take action, and that is precisely the time to take it! If you’re not ready you will be guided back to an earlier part of the course. You will not be asked to do anything you’re not totally ready and committed to doing. If you’re like most people, you’ll be anxious to apply your new knowledge and begin to enjoy your new life of freedom you so richly deserve.

Week Four – Staying the Course

This week is really about driving home the concept that you are a non-smoker. You will begin to know that you are finally free and that you will never be hostage to smoking again. In fact, if you stay with this course for the entire twenty-nine days, it will no longer be possible for you to return to your old thought patterns, habits and desires. You will be completely free of the invisible hold cigarettes and smoking once held over you.

Before we begin the course there is one final thing I want you to consider. When it comes to quitting smoking there are just two kinds of people: those who successfully quit and those who do not. Whatever the outcome your intrinsic worth remains the same. You are not a failure. You will have tried. Some people who have tried to quit smoking view their attempt and subsequent “slip” as signs of personal weakness. Quitting smoking is a process rather than a single act or event. You will be taken through a process that will work every time if you’re committed to be free of your addiction. I’m telling you this because too often in life we are so afraid of failure that we fail to even try.

There is however one thing in life that is virtually certain, if you don’t try you will never succeed at anything. The more you try, the more you learn and the more you succeed. Your body will thank you for making the effort. In twenty-nine days you will be a non-smoker.

Enough talk already. Let’s get started!
